Welcome to Our School

The Barkhamsted School is a learning community nestled in the Northwest corner of Connecticut.  The school serves approximately 230 students from preschool through grade six with a staff consisting of over 60 dedicated individuals. 

At The Barkhamsted School, staff works to support students in becoming well-rounded individuals by providing a wide variety of engaging learning opportunities.  We strive to cultivate a community focused on developing relationships that elevate every member of our school and believe that social-emotional well-being is the foundation of a productive and positive school community. 

Our curriculum is grounded in the Connecticut Core Standards and is designed to educate for excellence through a comprehensive system of standards, assessment, content, instruction, reflection and revision.

The mission of the Barkhamsted School District is to educate all students to be competent, confident, thoughtful and responsible citizens.
